Contact enrichment
Enrichment fills in what a contact’s email address can tell you: the person’s name, and the company behind the domain — its name, industry, headcount, country, description, and which mail platform it uses. Nothing is synced or emailed as a result; the findings are stored on the contact.
Where to start it
- Contact page. Opening a contact nobody has researched yet queues its research (at most once a day), and the Enrichment card fills in while the page is open. Research again refreshes it.
- Enrichment page. Enrich every contact in the project, or one list, as a batch. Each contact gets a result — enriched, nothing found, skipped (and why), waiting, or failed — and the batch downloads as CSV. One batch runs at a time.
Viewers can read results; admins and editors can start research.
New contacts are not enriched automatically.
What gets skipped
A contact is skipped, without a paid lookup, when it is unsubscribed or
suppressed, its email did not pass verification (or
verification is off for the project), it is a shared inbox (info@, sales@),
a disposable address, or a personal address with no company behind it
(gmail.com and similar).
Where the data comes from
| Fact | Source |
|---|---|
| Mail platform (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, other) | The domain’s DNS records — free, so filled in even without a paid provider |
| Person’s name | Derrick, from the email address |
| Company industry, headcount, country, description, and details such as headquarters, founding year, specialties and technologies | FullEnrich’s company lookup (0.25 credits per domain) |
| Company description when FullEnrich has none, or when FullEnrich is not set up | Firecrawl reads the company’s website |
A company is researched once and shared by every contact at that domain, then
refreshed after 30 days. A job title or department is only known when a form or
an integration supplied it in custom_fields.job_title or
custom_fields.department.
Using the results
Findings are stored under enrichment on the contact — for example
enrichment.company_industry, enrichment.company_size,
enrichment.company_country, and enrichment.email_provider. Use these paths
in sync rule filters and field mappings, and find them in the
contact’s data export.
Setup (self-hosted)
Set any of FULLENRICH_API_KEY, FIRECRAWL_API_KEY, and DERRICK_API_KEY.
Without them, only the mail platform is filled in.
ENRICHMENT_DAILY_LIMIT caps paid lookups per project per rolling day
(default 500); contacts past it wait and continue later. FullEnrich
(FULLENRICH_PER_MINUTE, default 60), Firecrawl and Derrick calls are also
rate limited.
