Email verification
Bad email addresses hurt your sender reputation and waste your sends. OpenContact can verify every contact’s email as it comes in, and let you act on the result in your sync rules.
What it checks
When enabled, each contact’s email is scanned for signals such as:
- Disposable addresses (throwaway inboxes)
- Role addresses (info@, sales@, support@)
- Public-domain vs business addresses
- Block-list presence
The result is stored on the contact so you can filter on it.
Turning it on
Enable verification for a project on the Connections page (it appears when verification is available for your account). Once on, new and re-captured contacts are scanned automatically before they sync.
Verification fails safe: if the scanner is briefly unavailable, the contact is marked unknown and still syncs, and OpenContact retries on the next update rather than caching a bad result.
Using the result in rules
In a sync rule filter, add a condition on the verification result — for example, only sync contacts that aren’t disposable, or route role addresses to a separate list. The rule builder offers quick-filter chips for the common cases.
Because verification runs before the sync, risky addresses never reach your ESP in the first place — keeping your lists clean and your deliverability high.
